Who are we?
Chestnut Community Events was formed in November 2006 and constituted in April 2007 by a voluntary and management committee. Our team consists of local professionals trained in many different Informal and Community Education disciplines. The group also consists of one full time employee, other paid professionals and volunteers. Chestnut Community Events became a registered charity (no. 1141037) in January 2011. Our charity's office was affected by Storm Desmond in December 2015 and had to relocate to a new home funded by the Flood Relief Fund through Cumbria Community Foundation, thanks to the generosity of many people and businesses. How are we funded?
We are a non profit making charity. We are funded by Schools, Community groups, local grants, trusts, and the local council. We charge for activities on an hourly, half day, full day or weekly basis or we can assist you in applying for a grant. This could cut your costs by up to 50%, but would likely incur a delay of approximately 3 months in order to process the application and a successful grant cannot be guaranteed.

What do we do?
Our aim is to provide themed events (e.g. environmental events and disability awareness events) and workshops for children and young people within Cumbria, particularly in the South Lakes Area. We mentor adults, some of whom are disadvantaged due to mental health and other anxieties. We teach new skills, encourage confidence and support people to be more independent, assisting them to look for work alongside our freelance professionals. Our charity has a “Lupton Room” (2-5 people) and a small meeting/ conference room (max 10 people) to hire for individual, private or business use.
